So the NIHL season is just over a week away from starting and the fixtures are finally out. Below we've posted this seasons fixtures and the comings and goings of the NIHL1 Cardiff Devils team.

Players In

This is what coach Mark Cuddihy had to say about his new signings

Sean Scarbrough "To say I’m pleased to be able to bring a player of Sean’s quality here to Cardiff is a massive understatement. I have been talking to Sean on and off thought the summer, he sent me videos of himself playing and they are very impressive.
I'm sure he’s going to be one of the quickest players here and has a very good eye for the net. Ally Band contacted me out of the blue and asked if I had been speaking to him, when I told Ally yes he was full of praise for Sean having played with him in Oz.
You only have to look at the numbers he has put up over the last 6 years to see he could be a great success here. Sean has researched our club and he wants to use us as a stepping stone and we have no problem with that at all. He flies in on the 6th so unfortunately will miss the game against our Elite League team and he is disappointed as he really wanted to showcase himself there. He will however be here just in time for our game against Chelmsford on the 8th

Steven Osman "I’m delighted to bring Ozzy to South Wales, he really caught us by surprise last season. We knew that he had talent from watching him the previous season but to finish above former EPL import Babuba and ex Cardiff player Steven Fisher was a big deal. He has good speed and a great eye for the net. I have been talking to Ozzy since the season finished in April and I know he’s had many offers from around the league. Ozzy is a player that ticks a lot of boxes for us as an organisation and will benefit greatly by skating some sessions with our Elite League team.'"

Alistair Band “'I’m delighted to be able to bring Alistair to the Devils, we needed to add some more toughness to our team and we have certainly done that with Bandy. I have been aware of his toughness in our league for a few years now but over the last two seasons I have seen another side to him in his playing ability, he played a lot of minutes against us over those past two years and has great vision and a good first pass.
Ally has a big reputation and he will help us to protect our young talent.  He’s a great guy to have around any changing room and has fitted in with the boys in our practices from the off. We have added another player that likes to entertain the crowd next season.'

Steven Fisher
“In Fisher we have a proven point scorer in our league, he holds the record here for points since the team began.  He plays his best hockey here in Cardiff and his points per game stats affirm that. We lost a lot of points with Preece, Piggott, Hayes, Jones and Harding all moving up or on and I’m hoping between Fisher, Osman, Newton  and Lockwood we will go some way to replacing those guys. We are hoping to bring in one last player and look to announce that on the weekend”

Alan Armour “It’s great to bring Arms back to Cardiff, It’s a crucial time for the club and NIIHL teams and we need an experienced player like Armour in the team, we have an abundance of young talent coming through our system and practicing with us on a regular basis and having Arms out there with them will only help bring them on.
I have known Armour and played against him longer than most of my players have even been alive!! He was great for us during our runners up year and I’m sure will have success with us again. He has a ridiculous amount of skill and will certainly put ‘bums on seats’ with some of his antics, he’s a good friend of mine and I’m delighted to bring him back to Cardiff”

Jamie Newton “He is an experienced Centre at this level and has great numbers for our league, he showed what a good goal scorer he is by getting on the score sheet Telford in his EPL Debut, Jamie has been skating with us for a few weeks now and fits in to our team perfectly'“

James Warman “James will be a huge player for us and I’m very happy he chose to play in Cardiff next season. He really caught my eye last year and I made my first contact with him in April but he was unsure what he was going to do. We have spoken a few times since and I’m really pleased to bring him to Cardiff.
He’s serious about his hockey and ticks a lot of boxes for our club with his age and talent. I have spoken to many players that have played with James in the ENL and EPL and many have described him as the best young defenseman they have played with! He is aware of our development system and I’m sure he want to follow in the footsteps of others here”

James Parsons “I’ve been a big fan of James for a long time, James has played for us on a few occasions but has had job opportunities abroad that he has been unable to turn down. I’ve been in constant contact with James and as soon as he told me he had signed a permanent contract in South Wales we talked about hockey.
James has skated a few times during the summer and every time he is improving. Parse has a good pedigree in the game and is a player of real quality, if we can get him half way back to full form he will be a fantastic asset to us. He hits like a train and is an unbelievable dressing room guy. I’m really pleased we can sign him for a full season”
