The Devils managed to grab a rare away win on Saturday overcoming bottom of the table Hull Stingrays 2-3.

The Stingrays were first off the marks when they capitalised on a penalty called to Mark Smith at 8:28 for tripping. Just 20 seconds later the first goal was in.

Stingrays 1-0 Devils. Huppe from Gomenyuk and Kamikov at 8:48. PPG.

However with Smith now back on the ice, it was the Devils turn to level things up when Birbraer found the back of the net just under 40 seconds after the Hull opening goal...

Stingrays 1-1 Devils. Birbraer from Richardson and Jarvis at 9:21.

The rest of the 1st period ended without incident, the Devils notching up 12 shots to the Stingrays 15 on Stevie Lyle. The second period opened with a 4on4 as Latulippe (18:55) and Gomenyuk (19:33) had both been called for penalties towards the end of the second period.

With just 57seconds of the 2nd period gone, the Devils were handed 30 seconds of 3on5 in their favour which they could unfortunately not capitalise on. With the powerplay over, it was left to the Devils to score 5on5....

Stingrays 1-2 Devils. Miller from Hill at 23:04.

Just 24 seconds later and the Devils had increased their lead further thanks to a second quick goal, this time coming from young upcoming brit forward, Ben Davies.

Stingrays 1-3 Devils. Davies from Hartwick at 23:28.

With the Devils having a 2 goal lead it was going to be an uphill battle for the Stingrays not helped by two defencemen being called for penalties at the same time. Symonds received 2minutes for slashing at 34:02, and Jarvis received 2minutes for holding also at 34:02.

37 seconds later and the Stingrays had again found the back of the net whilst enjoying a full 2minute 5on3 opportunity, this time the goal coming from a previous Devil.

Stingrays 2-3 Devils. Silverthorn unassisted at 34:39.

The 2nd finished with the Devils leading 2-3 and despite both teams best efforts no further goals were found during the 3rd period. Despite having 3 powerplays, one of which involved Hulls Lee Mitchell being dealt a 2+10 the Devils could not score again.

However the win was accepted, a rare road win for the Devils despite missing their captain Brad Voth and midseason signing Ryan Finnerty.
