Im not going to join the worst team ever brigade because we are joint 2nd in the league. But our defence does worry me. If we want a trophy we need another body. I used to call Thompson, turnover Thompson but he has improved a lot as the season progressed. However he still doesn't take the body anywhere near enough and its costs us goals.

The other elephant in the room is the second line. In January we scored 29 goals. Only 2 of them were scored by our second line. (The third line scored 3 and the fourth line 2.)

We need Coughler back and I don't care who he replaces on the 2nd line because none of them are producing.
Before the season started, most would have expected Reid and Crandall to be part of our first line, as last year - never mind second. They’re now partnered with a defensive specialist in Penny and are one of the biggest problems that we have. I prefer to see the other 3 lines in action, they’re more effective and certainly better to watch.

It’s tricky to regig that line because SCM & WBF lines have been impressive during our good run. Wouldn’t want to disrupt them at this stage. Just badly need Coughler back before the playoffs. Potential for 3 potent lines if nobody else gets injured.

That’s the crazy thing, we win tomorrow and it’s 2 points, Guildford ain’t playing , 2 easy home wins for giants and steelers as well tomorrow though
That was not easy tonight. It was painful to watch. If that's the best Giants can play, trust me, they don't deserveto win the league. It was awful.

I wasn’t talking about tonight, I was saying I think you got a easy win against fife tomorrow and the steelers will do the same to Coventry

Yes I agree. If Coughler comes in on the second, one of them will have to go to fourth. Probably Penny as Crandall and Reid have showed they can work together last season.

More like a 4 nil game , Kozun had a poor first 10 minutes, didn’t look ready, down hill from there
Being shut out is one thing but the Devils never looked like scoring all night. Kozun might get some criticism for tonight but if the team is nowhere near scoring it matters little what the netminder is or isn't doing.

Madness lost 6 nil and still 4 pts behind first
Being 4 points behind Guildford doesn't really count for much right now, it's these sort of games league winning sides need to be winning at this point of the league. Belfast are building up a head of steam I'd say they are the team to watch out for at this stage.

4 goals down, not looking like scoring a goal at all & then pulling the net minder. Why?
What's the alternative? Just accept the defeat? We have come back from 3-0 by pulling the NM a few years back (v Guiildford), so why not roll the dice?

Interestingly, when we pulled Kozun with about 7.40 to go and then Martin received a delayed penalty the game was played (briefly) with no netminders as Holsa went to the bench.

Really frustrating game. We do have a tendency to lose focus if calls go against us and that needs to be stamped out immediately. Despite being upset by the Blaze tactic of constant off the puck niggling, we were still in this going into the third but Yellow Horn's showed superb persistence for the third and that seemed to knock the stuffing out of us and that was that.

I enjoyed watching the Blaze, they play such a gung-ho attacking game that for once our stretch passing could have paid massive dividends given their tendency to commit four players to attack but we tended to go for intricate passing which slowed the game down.

Not a great result at all but as others have said, the league is mad this year, win tonight and we are two points off the top.

Being 4-0 down in the dying minutes is a very different scenario to 3-0.

At that point Dupont should have just kept Kozun on, given our poor puck retention all night it was clear as day pulling the netminder would just gift another goal. As soon as Kozun made his way to the bench I predicted Blaze would score & my prediction was spot on.

The real concern from last night is the Devils never looked like being an attacking threat all night, we could have had 6 skaters all night and probably not score a goal.

It’s the same team playing the same way, simple as that. New month, that’s all that is changing. No doubt tonight we will come out and play sublime knocking Panties into oblivion.
