Grenoble is a great town Rugby crazy.If i remember its on a TGV route.
Modern high tech town lots of great bars restaurants

I went to the Grenoble vs Angers game just after last seasons continental cup. The stadium is very nice and has an amazing pre-show. The atmosphere was quite intense for that game (and it was a very physical game with quite a few fights). The city itself was outstanding to say the least with amazing scenery and restaurants, etc. Just looking at flights now as this will be an awesome trip.

Do you think the early morning Friday flights into Lyon will leave enough time if there’s games on Friday afternoon or is it best to just fly Thursday? Can’t decide.

You should be ok, just check train/bus times

Games started at 4:30pm on the Friday in Angers.

TGV is about an hour to Grenoble and is generally pretty reliable. They are pretty regular as well so I would say that it should be OK

Gonna have a sit down later and check if there's any other hockey or football games taking place before or after that weekend. Might spend a week down there. I'd imagine the beer is quite expensive down that way
