First period we looked decent, good stick work and decision making. Passes finding their man and movement was good. Just didn't translate into better shots on goal.

2nd period our discipline went, not helped by some 'questionable' calls at times. The stripes really don't do themselves any favours. Think Bowns will want the 3rd back.

Fight with Joey didn't get going - the Flyer went after him and within moments was on top of Joey.

Flyers actively scared of Lou - he offered/demanded one fella out after beating another.

We needed that Penny goal, and we'll need another at start of P3 - and/or a proper Lou fight.

Riley doing Riley things - couple decent hits.

Overall a good Devils performance against a Fife side who looked dangerous for spells.

At 2-1 the Devils looked in control, only for the officials to have a complete brain fart for 5 minutes. Crawford gets the most non-tripping tripping call and then Waller gets two minutes for pointing it out.
Fife score, then score again. Then Louis is on the end of a two-handed slash to the head which not only goes unpunished but the Fife guy scores to make it 4-2.

Fortunately the Devils got their heads together and Penny’s short-handed goal at the end of the second was huge.

Third period the officials let the players decide the game and it was almost complete domination from the Devils. Probably the best period I’ve seen from us this seasons. Coughler gets the scrappy equaliser on the PP, Batch jumps up into the play and finished expertly for 5-4 and then a lovely one touch move from Martin to Cox to Sanford for his hat -trick. Fife pulled the netminder early but it only meant an ENG for Coughler.

Some big saves from Bowns at crucial times and even if you were going to be super critical the only one he mightvwant back was the 2nd.

Overall a really impressive, gutsy win. Let’s hope this is the one that sees us kick on

Well done Cardiff Devils. At end of second period it looked like discipline had cost them this game. No team can sustain such a prolonged penalty kill without goals being scored against, but it then descended into a bit of a free for all and scuffles before the end of period whistle. I mean even GOAT was frustrated, and when does he ever get involved personally in the rough stuff?!

Cole Sandford is a star. Fast and composed, those angles! Credit to Penny.....a cheeky, well taken shorthanded goal at just the right time to give the guys some hope.

Hope this gives the Devils the confidence they need to keep digging deep during this punishing part of the game schedule.

I enjoyed that, thought we played well in the first, lost the plot in the second, thought Lou was going to flatten the guy he dived at, then shook another one like a rag doll. All because the stripes were not doing their job. Third period was a joy to watch. Devils playing like they can and Fife had no answer. Great to see a Batchy rocket too, that will do him good.
