I believe the 2 weeks notice works both ways! If a player wants to leave for whatever reason, he only has to give 2 weeks!

Surly if a player signs a contract you can just say to the player yeah see you later if they they sign a one year deal then they get paid there deal

That's exactly right. Even fixed-term contracts usually have a notice clause to allow either party to terminate the contract before the end of the term. Otherwise, the employer can be committed to a full year-long contract even if the employee doesn't perform to the requisite standard. Without such a clause, the employer would need to pay the employee for the duration of the contract even where it was terminated shortly after its commencement. Not good for the employer!
